Getting married in Ibiza

Ibiza is a Spanish island situated in the Mediterranean Sea. The region is globally renowned for its vibrant nightlife, but beyond the clubs and the famous Ibiza hippy lifestyle lies rich cultures and stunning natural landscapes. On beautiful beaches with crystal-clear water, such as Cala Xarraca, Cala Benirrás, and Cala d’Hort, you can snorkel among exotic fish and coral reefs, enjoy evening entertainment and nature, or perhaps organize the beach wedding of your dreams...

How to get there?

Ibiza is directly accessible by plane. If you book your tickets early, you often find quite affordable flights. In just a 2-hour flight, you are on the Spanish island. The airport of Ibiza is centrally located, only 7.5 kilometers from the capital. Prefer something more adventurous? A boat excursion can be a thrilling experience. You can depart from Spain, Mallorca, or another nearby island. Transport on the island itself is possible with public transport, taxis, rental cars, or scooters.

Where to party and sleep?

One of Ibiza's hidden gems is the countryside. You find rustic farms and vast vineyards surrounded by citrus and almond trees. These estates, Casa Colonial, Can Domingo, or Finca Los Olivos, house cozy old fincas or renovated farmhouses, always embraced by tropical plants with views of Ibiza's sun-drenched coastlines. They are perfect for your Ibiza-themed wedding and accommodation for you and your guests.

Prefer something more modern and sleek? Ibiza offers luxurious villas ideal for hosting your reception or wedding dinner. In villas like Las Nubes and Casa Anna, enjoy tropical gardens and breathtaking views of the wild nature and blue ocean. In these spacious residences, you can accommodate some of your dearest guests.

Chasing the ultimate Ibiza dream and want to say yes on one of the island’s white beaches? The private beaches and bays of Amante Ibiza,el Chiringuito de Cala Gracioneta, or Experimental Beach Ibiza are perfect for your beach ceremony, wedding party, and dinner. Enjoy the beautiful colors created by the sunset with your fiancé...

What to eat?

Thinking of the South brings thoughts of delicious food. In Spain, and thus in Ibiza, people usually eat quite late, sometimes not until 9 p.m. or even later. The island is also famous for its delightful and diverse tapas dishes. Ensure tapas, such as the typical tortilla, pinchito, or patatas bravas, are part of your wedding feast to fully immerse your guests in the Southern atmosphere.

Ibiza is known for its flavorful fish and seafood dishes, thanks to its centuries-long fishing industry. Consider the delicious arroz a la marinera, a rice dish with authentic fish broth, or the well-known grilled, fresh prawns drizzled with pure olive oil, produced on the island.

What to drink?

Spain is renowned for its excellent wines. Choose wines produced at the island's bodegas. It's even possible to taste the wines in advance on-site, as most bodegas in Ibiza have their wine tasting.

Or opt for a typical summer, southern atmosphere with:

  • Sangria: this mix of wine, spirits, and fruit pieces provides a sweet, refreshing drink while enjoying views of the Mediterranean Sea.
  • Tinto de verano: literally translated as ‘red wine of the summer’, is the perfect name for this sparkling drink. It combines red wine with gaseosa (a type of Seven-Up) for the ultimate beach cooling.

The typical herbal liqueur hierbas ibicencas is the perfect chupito!

Practical tips and tricks

Where to get married in Ibiza?

Despite its small size, Ibiza offers a range of views and natural landscapes. Do you prefer to marry on a white beach, located in a hidden bay, or rather in the middle of nature on a renovated, yet authentic, farmhouse?

The island's limited expanse has many advantages. You don’t have to choose between your wedding photos on the beach or in the wild nature, as the distance from one end of the island to the other is only 45 km. A short drive takes you to a completely different landscape!

What activities can you do?

The growing tourism brings a rich offering of activities to Ibiza. Choose before or after getting married in Ibiza a trip to one of the many bodegas and participate in a cozy wine tasting. Or go diving with your partner and enjoy the clear waters, its wonderful animals, and magical coral reefs. Can’t get enough of the water? Boat trips and tours take you to surrounding islands or simply let you enjoy the radiant sun on the water. Additionally, you can rent scooters or bikes to explore the island together. Ride around the island without a destination or visit one of the traditional hippie markets, like the Las Dalias market.

What about administration?

  • Besides Spanish, English is a commonly spoken language in Ibiza.
  • You can only marry in the church in Ibiza if you or your fiancé are members of the Catholic Church, or are residents of Spain. We recommend having your civil wedding take place in your home country. Your symbolic ceremony can take place on the island without any issues.
  • Want to cut the budget a bit? Marry just outside of the season! In July, August, and September, many locations will significantly raise their prices. In May, June, and October, it will be more affordable. Moreover, the weather is also very pleasant then!
