Katrien and Ward's paradise honeymoon in the Seychelles

On 13 August 2021, Katrien and Ward plumply said yes to each other. However, their dream honeymoon was still a while away due to the travel restrictions in place at the time because of COVID-19.... Fortunately, postponement is not a reprieve, and almost three years later, in May 2024, the couple finally enjoyed their long-awaited honeymoon in the sunny Seychelles. Off to... the Seychelles!
For Katrien and Ward, one rule applied when choosing their honeymoon destination: it had to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. So they wanted a different formula from the trips they had taken together before. "We were looking for a paradise destination with white beaches and swaying palm trees, as well as a range of activities," Katrien explains. Their honeymoon coach Evi from The Honeymoon Planner pointed the couple to the versatility of Seychelles. So during their 13-day trip, they visited not one, but four islands. "Each island hasitsown charm and offers numerous discoveries: national parks, hidden beaches, cycling routes, coconut plantations, and so much more."
From giant tortoises to Creole curry
In the Seychelles, Katrien and Ward were introduced to new places and local customs on a daily basis, bringing each day to a new climax. Cycling among giant tortoises and dining in a restaurant in true pirate style were just some of the adventures the couple enjoyed. "Very special to us were the Robinson Crusoe kayak tour - in a crystal kayak over coral reefs - and our unique photo shoot on Desroches," shares Katrien.
There was also an abundance of good food: "We discovered the delicious Creole curries, to which the local chefs put their own twist each time. We regularly ordered the coconut curry and tasted so many different variations!", laughs Katrien.
Dinner under the stars
During their honeymoon, Katrien and Ward celebrated nine years together. To celebrate the occasion, The Honeymoon Planner offered them a selection of special activities. Katrien: "From this, we chose the 'dinner under the stars', which Evi arranged for us with our hotel." And that was not the only special wedding package of their trip. "Thanks to Evi, every hotel we stayed at provided something to make us extra welcoming as 'honeymooners', from homemade chocolates and flowers with the inscription 'Happy Honeymoon', to a blissfully filled bubble bath accompanied by a delicious bottle of bubbles," Katrien happily reflects.

To plan their honeymoon, the bride and groom had a lot of help from Evi from The Honeymoon Planner. Katrien: "Ward and I both have very busy jobs, which meant we had little time to plan our trip. Luckily, Evi understood our wishes perfectly, and managed to translate them into our dream destination."
Carefree travel
Everything was organised to perfection, so Katrien and Ward only had to do one thing: enjoy themselves. " During our stay, The Honeymoon Planner had planned all the fun and exclusive excursions the Seychelles have to offer, while still leaving plenty of time for us to relax," Katrien explains enthusiastically. "Evi had also completely arranged the transport. We could easily follow our itinerary to see where and when we would be picked up and at what time we would arrive. Lovely to travel carefree like that! Moreover, throughout the trip, Evi was just a WhatsApp message away from us. Like an invisible travelbuddy, she watched over us, which was a particularly reassuring feeling."
