An enchanting Christmas experience
December is a magical month, especially for weddings. ‘We've noticed that winter weddings are becoming more popular every year,’ says Anne-Sophie Van Der Pligt of Botanic Sanctuary Antwerp. ‘Last year, we organised a remarkable number of weddings in December.’ That's no coincidence, because from 1 December onwards, the five-star superior hotel exudes the atmosphere of Winter Wonderland or “Magical Hideaway”.
‘With Botanic Magical Hideaway, we create a complete Christmas experience,’ says Anne-Sophie. ‘The hotel's façade is illuminated, we have a Veuve Clicquot Lodge in the garden, our own Christmas market and more than seventy Christmas trees scattered throughout the hotel and rooms.’ The result? You feel like you're in an idyllic Christmas village where magic lurks around every corner.
Winter temperatures and stylish rooms
Although the parsonage garden is used less during the winter, Botanic Sanctuary Antwerp offers plenty of other atmospheric spaces. The historic chapel is ideal for an intimate ceremony or stylish candlelit dinner. The Amaryllis Room is a spacious, inviting room with many possibilities.
‘In terms of styling, we play with the aesthetic vibe of Christmas. Rich winter colours such as burgundy set the tone. The traditional colours of green and red also feature,’ says Anne-Sophie. ‘Flowers make way for Christmas trees and each couple can add their own touch so that it is completely in line with their dream wedding.’
Tasty winter menus
The culinary aspect also reflects the season. ‘Couples are given a tasting menu and then choose their favourite combinations. Everything can be personalised.’
The catering is handled by a permanent team, led by Viki Geunes from 't Zilte. ‘Quality is guaranteed, and anyone who likes a little extra can ask us for anything. Think, for example, of a luxurious chocolate fountain with delicious dips. Completely in line with the winter atmosphere,’ says Anne-Sophie.
A weekend in winter wonderland
Want to experience the ultimate Christmas feeling? ‘Many couples stay with us for a whole weekend. We start on Friday with a welcome dinner. Saturday is your big day and on Sunday we finish with a Christmas brunch,’ says Anne-Sophie. ‘A total experience that you will remember forever.’
