Made with love, worn with pride: how Grécie creates stylish bespoke suitewear

From a silky-soft dress for your bridesmaids to an elegant top and skirt for your mum: suitewear is so much more than just an outfit. It is a combination of fabrics and cuts that are chosen with care and sensitivity. Emma Declerck takes you behind the scenes at Grécie and reveals the process behind creating tailor-made suitewear.

Exclusive labels, completely tailored to your needs

At Grécie, everything revolves around occasion wear: "In our shop, we have exclusive brands that are often not yet available in Europe. We also offer our own collections. From the bride's mother to the bridesmaids, there is something for everyone. The bride can also choose or design her own civil wedding dress with us. What makes us truly unique is our customisation. We make everything ourselves in our studio in Belgium," says Emma.

    A lasting memory

During our first appointment, we take the time to get to know each other. We go over the practicals and determine what is feasible based on the wedding date and your budget. Once that has been decided, it's showtime,’ smiles Emma.

"We start by determining the style of the dress, the fabric and the colour of the Suite clothing or civil wedding dress. With our wide range, anything is possible. Do you have a specific shade of blue in mind for your bridesmaids' dresses? We will find the right fabric. Is your dream dress a combination of the top and skirt from two dresses in our showroom? That's possible. Based on what has been discussed, we will get to work."

    Your vision, our creation

Once the design has been finalised, the technical work begins. ‘We order the chosen fabrics and start drawing the pattern based on your measurements,’ explains Emma.

"To avoid colour variations, we cut all the pieces for your garment from one and the same roll of fabric. Then linings and reinforcements are added. Each part is carefully prepared and assembled by hand in the workshop.‘

    The finishing touch

‘The first fitting is always a special moment,’ smiles Emma. ‘The vision really comes to life. At the first fitting, we ask customers to bring their shoes with them so that we can adjust the length straight away.

We make the necessary adjustments and schedule a second fitting. When everything is to your liking, down to the smallest details, you can take it home and wear it with pride,’ concludes Emma.
