A Multi-Day Wedding Celebration with a Touch of Gold: Amber & Maxim at ‘t Convent 2.0

A year after saying “I do” in a civil ceremony in 2024, Amber and Maxim’s church wedding took place. They celebrated their love to the fullest during two festive days at ‘t Convent 2.0 in Lo-Reninge—from an intimate reception in the crypt to an exuberant evening party in the Vleterenzaal. With their little son Jean-Louis close by, a champagne theme, and a keen eye for atmosphere and details, it was a wedding weekend that was absolutely perfect. Read their story here!

The long-awaited proposal

Amber already knew for a long time that she wanted to get married. She says: “I really wanted to get married, and Maxim had promised me that a proposal would follow in 2023. He kept me in suspense for a while longer, though. That year, we went on a ski vacation together, traveled to Dublin, and even to New York, while I eagerly awaited the moment. Finally, the moment arrived, and Maxim proposed to me on December 30, 2023, at our home. Of course, I enthusiastically said ‘Yes!’.”

Two Days of Celebration

Amber and Maxim were legally married on August 24, 2024. Their church wedding followed a little over a year later, on Saturday, October 25, 2025. Two days earlier, on Thursday, October 23, they had already organized a first reception for this occasion. This gave their wedding celebration some extra breathing room and allowed them to celebrate twice!

One venue, many advantages

The historic setting of ‘t Convent 2.0, with its multiple spaces, was exactly what Amber and Maxim were looking for. “We only visited one venue and were immediately sold on ‘t Convent 2.0!” Amber shares. “We held the reception on Thursday in the crypt, which is also a very beautiful venue. On Saturday, everything moved to the more spacious Vleterenzaal, where there was plenty of room for the entire party. Our guests raved about the entire venue, both inside and out.”

From a clear vision to a stress-free day

Choosing vendors wasn’t a long, drawn-out search for Amber and Maxim. “Even before we were engaged, I already had a pretty good idea of what our wedding celebration should look like. We already knew most of our vendors,” Amber smiles. That clear vision made planning straightforward and fostered trust in every collaboration.

For the preparation and coordination, Amber and Maxim worked with wedding planner Raquel from Venus in the Sun. She ensured that everything ran smoothly and calmly on their big day. That support was welcome, especially with a schedule that spanned several days. The atmospheric furniture was provided by NIMA Rent, and Maison Julie provided the beautiful flowers, columns, and candles.

Printed materials with a common theme

The printed materials were given a clear theme in collaboration with Drukkerij Baert. Amber proudly shares: “The year before, we sent out our ‘save the date’ as a Christmas card, and in January, we became mom and dad to Jean-Louis. We chose to carry that theme from the save the date through to the birth announcement and our wedding invitation. Orange was the unifying color throughout, along with our signature fonts, so that all the printed materials felt recognizable and personal.”

Say ‘yes’ to the dress(es)

Amber found her wedding dress at Bruidsmode Els Lucienne in Ypres. She says: “I wasn’t sure what to expect beforehand. However, I tried on five dresses and was immediately sold on *the* dress!”

For the reception on Thursday, Amber was looking for a different outfit: something festive, yet not too flashy. She found that perfect dress at Prima Donna in Deerlijk, from the brand Oni Onik.

For the men, Amber and Maxim wanted a uniform look: “We thought it was important that the men wore the same suit. That’s why they all rented the same suit from Vanwynsberghe. The only difference was that Maxim himself had a different undercoat and wore a tailcoat.”

Saturday: The Big Day!

On Saturday, October 25, 2025, Amber and Maxim’s big day had finally arrived. In the morning, Berry Blue did Amber’s hair and makeup, as well as that of part of the bridal party. Despite the packed schedule, everything stayed perfect from early morning until late into the night. Once ready, Amber and Maxim saw each other for the first time that day during their first look, surrounded by their bridesmaids and groomsmen.

After the first look, it was time for Amber and Maxim’s photo shoot. “Our photography was done by LUX Visual Storytellers, and we’re very happy with them! The weather wasn’t great that day, so as a Plan B we found an indoor location where we could take photos: Kasteel De Lovie in Poperinge,” says Amber.

Charming church ceremony

After the photo shoot, Amber and Maxim’s church wedding took place. Amber describes their charming ceremony: “The church was beautifully decorated with flowers and candles by Maison Julie—it was truly stunning! We also had live music in the church, performed by It Takes Two. They beautifully enhanced our church ceremony with their wonderful voices.”

An evening full of golden bubbles

During the reception on Saturday, Amber and Maxim had added another unique touch. “We go to Reims every year and had once told a local champagne producer there that when we got married, he could make a large six-liter Methuselah bottle. It was actually provided and served during the reception!”, laughs Amber.

The wedding theme was also evident during dinner: the tables were named after champagne brands! As a thank-you gift for their guests, Amber and Maxim also chose a champagne cork as a lasting memento.

Musical Surprises

For their entrance into the hall, the couple chose the song ‘Sara Perche Ti Amo’ in the version by DJ Matrix. For Amber, this was the moment when the party could really begin: “Maxim had said beforehand that he didn’t want to walk into the hall ‘jumping around’; however, that plan didn’t hold up! The music really called for it. I personally thought this was such a cool moment! I still get goosebumps when I think back on it; it was exactly as if all the stress fell away from us.”

That evening, the couple also received a surprise from their best men and bridesmaids. Amber: “As a surprise, our best men and bridesmaids had arranged for the violinist Violinvasion to perform. That was truly a wonderful moment!”

Ready to hit the dance floor

After the delicious dinner, it was time to dance! Amber and Maxim chose DJ Vinny after Amber saw him perform at Rock Werchter: “I immediately said I wanted this DJ. I called him the very next day, and everything was sorted right away. The party was truly amazing thanks to DJ Vinny!”

Amber and Maxim danced their opening dance to “Everything” by Michael Bublé. Two weeks before the wedding, the couple decided to take dance lessons after all; however, those online lessons didn’t go as hoped. Amber: “Luckily, I have a friend who dances and came to the rescue . We got together with her three times, dancing and practicing for three hours straight each time. Thanks to her, it all worked out!” After the successful opening dance, the dance party kicked off immediately!

Finally, Amber and Maxim had planned one last original finale. “Around 1 a.m., the caterers served pistolets with charcuterie. After a few drinks, many guests enjoyed those pistolets with préparé right on the dance floor!” Amber says with a wink.

A blissful wake-up at ‘t Convent 2.0

The next morning, Amber, Maxim, and their suite guests continued the party with a delicious breakfast! For Amber, the real strength of their wedding celebration lay in the venue: “I thought the venue was unique because we got to enjoy two different spaces during our two-day celebration. We were also able to stay overnight with the entire suite at ‘t Convent 2.0. So in the morning, we could immediately enjoy a delicious breakfast—heavenly!”

Heartwarming memories

The bride and groom look back on their favorite moments from their wedding weekend. For Maxim, the moment they boarded the party bus with their wedding party after the church ceremony was very special. Maxim says: “There was still a bit of stress in the air at that moment, and yet it also felt lighthearted. We then headed toward the venue with a drink in hand. Once we arrived, everyone was ready to party!”

For Amber, too, there was one moment among all the beautiful ones that touched her heart just a little bit more: “I thought it was so lovely how our little boy was pulled along in his wagon by our flower girls and page boys. He was so happy.”

  • “Do what feels right for you, regardless of what others think.”
  • “Dare to make choices that deviate from certain expectations. For example, we didn’t have a head table.”
