1. Create a mood board
A golden tip that will help you define your wedding styling: start with a mood board. This idea board will concretely show the dream scenario you have in mind, suggesting a clear style and colour pattern. Flowers recur throughout your most beautiful day: in your bouquet as a bride, your groom's corsage, in the hands of your bridesmaids, in the petals scattered before your feet, on the decorated chairs during the ceremony or in the large centrepieces and decorations in the halls and on the tables.
Flower stylist Diederik of VIVA Blooming explains how your style is reflected throughout all those flowers: "If you work with the right florist, your style is easily carried through into your entire floral decoration. I am very passionate about my profession and always know exactly what suits the bride and groom. This allows me to work out original ideas at your size."
2. Ask the expert
A mood board will give your florist the inspiration they need to fine-tune the wedding decoration with flowers. Look for a good floral stylist who will take the time to listen to your story and look closely at your mood board. This professional can advise you on colours, styles and types of flowers available in the season you want to get married.
Every wedding story requires its own scenario that your florist knows exactly how to fill in with beautiful creations. If you consult closely with an experienced florist and communicate your wishes clearly, the florist will be able to select the most appropriate flowers that will seamlessly match your taste and style.
3. Make sure you provide enough water
We sometimes forget it, but to shine for an entire wedding day, flowers need plenty of water. Of course, you want your wedding decorations to look flawless even during the evening party. So be kind to your flowers and always check whether they still have enough water - especially if there is a lot of sun or heat.
4. Think about your eye-catcher
Today, couples pay a lot of attention to the unique eye-catcher that defines their celebration. These days, florists create the most stunning wedding decorations with flowers for brides and grooms. We often see floral walls, floral ceilings and classically symmetrical or trendy asymmetrical constructions recurring that fantastically dress up or characterise a wedding party. So also look for your eye-catching eye-catcher that perfectly matches the style or theme of your wedding party.
Opting for an eye-catcher can also help you on a tight budget. Opt for one large piece that will fully come into its own during your ceremony. Later, you can then reuse that eye-catcher as a backdrop for beautiful photos of your guests, for example.
5. Keep your flowers for a while
A shame to see the beautiful bouquets and decorations from your ceremony go to waste just like that. While it's not for all flower arrangements, you can check with your florist to see which creations you can reuse. For example, have you ordered beautiful, large floral arrangements that will stand next to you as you say yes? Then take these to the party room a little later to dress up the buffet or highlight your guest book.
