1. Start the day with the children
Start the day off on the right foot and let your photographer take the necessary photos of and with the children at the beginning of the day. That way, their clothes will still look good and you won't have to worry about stains appearing ‘suddenly’ during the rest of the day. In this way, you immediately give your children the feeling that they are also important to your special day.
2. Give them a role during the ceremony
A wedding ceremony, however beautiful and intense it may be for you, is often a long moment of silence for the children. However, if you give them an ‘important role’, for example by allowing them to bring the wedding rings, your ceremony will certainly become their best moment of the day. You could also give them a task at the start of the ceremony, asking them to stand in front of the bride and scatter flower petals around her. It's adorable and guarantees magical photos!
3. Arrange a table for the children
A four- or five-course dinner, in other words ‘sitting around’, isn't necessarily music to most children's ears. Plan a separate table for the children, perhaps with a specially adapted menu based on the dishes they like. Tip: for once, don't worry about what and how they eat.... In addition, you can provide them with colouring pictures or small toys - and possibly a babysitter, so that they can stay creative and calm after dinner.
4. Organise a children's disco
A children's disco guarantees the atmosphere from start to finish. A 100% live show on stage with hits that the kids can't stop listening to. Fun is guaranteed, and everyone sings and dances!
5. Tailor-made goody bag for children
Surprise the children with something fun and new: give them a lovely goody bag on arrival or just before the reception! You can put colouring pictures, crayons and sweets in it, and maybe even a bubble bottle or disposable camera. You can bet that the children will be entertained for hours on your wedding day? It's a win-win situation!
6. Piñata
The star activity of every party: the piñata! Every child's heart beats spontaneously faster at the promise of all the goodies a piñata usually contains. It's a magnificent sight: all the children, blindfolded or not, are bent over a papier-mâché animal or doll from which sweets or gifts are falling. It's perhaps one of the highlights of their day...
7. Wedding nanny
A really good tip: opt for a nanny on your wedding day - for your very own wedding nanny. That way, there will always be someone to keep an eye on everything, allowing you to enjoy your day to the full. Children will be delighted, as a nanny can give them her undivided attention, play fun games with them and guide them through the day. You can also ask the nanny to bring the children home at a certain time in the evening. When they're tired, they'll go to bed anyway. And you can carry on partying in peace!
