1. Find inspiration

Before you go to your florist, you can already look up some great ideas. "Feel free to look around on the internet to see what you like, what appeals to you and what you prefer. Make a mood board and be sure to take it to your florist", advises Martijn from Florentius. That way, this professional can already get a good idea of what exactly you have in mind. Also take a look at our Pinterest account and collect all the great ideas on your own Pinterest board.

2. Decide who you are going to put in the flowers

Think carefully about who you want to provide flowers for. For yourself, of course, but maybe you also want to honour other guests - literally and figuratively ? Do you already know who you would like to provide a corsage for? "Perhaps you could also have flower crowns or bouquets madefor your bridesmaids . This way you complete the picture for you and your suite ," says Martijn.

3. Consider the table setting

Do you want to decorate your party room with flowers? Then Martijn has another handy tip: "Make sure you know in advance whether there will be round or oblong tables, how many tables, what kind of tables and how many guests you want to seat at tables. In short, make sure the room and table arrangements are already a bit in your head". This way, your florist can recommend the right decoration to make your venue as personalised as possible.

4. Make a floral plan

Have you already drawn up a schedule ? A script helps you keep track of what your wedding day will look like. This kind of script consists of your day programme and all the arrangements made. But did you know you can also make a script for your flowers? Highly recommended according to Martijn: "On your wedding day, flowers can be involved at various moments. Make a clear schedule so that the florist knows which flowers need to be present where and when. This way you know that all the flowers, for every moment of your day, will be delivered nicely timed and arranged appropriately."

5. Opt for seasonal flowers

Finally, Martijn from Florentius also recommends choosing seasonal flowers. This is a sustainable and cheaper choice. Flowers that are not linked to the season are imported from more distant countries, which is obviously not that sustainable. Local, seasonal flowers therefore remain the ideal solution. If you are not sure which flowers are really in bloom at the time of your wedding, do not hesitate to consult your florist. Martijn gives us some tips in advance: "If you are getting married in spring, go for ranunculus or muscari in your bridal bouquet. If you get married in summer, colourful peonies and lovely-smelling garden roses are ideal for the whole decoration."
