The wedding dress trends for 2025

Merche Segarra shares what for her are the biggest wedding dress trends for 2025: "I believe in a new kind of romance, with an emphasis on ruffles, sheer fabrics and statement sleeves; fabrics like crepe and satin create a more 'retro' look. Layers, the return of the veil and a voluminous silhouette are also among the trends of 2025. Next year's most innovative trend? For me, those are the short wedding dresses. A mini dress really makes a statement."

"If I were to name one trend that will really remain popular for a long time, it is the strapless neckline. This has everything to stand the test of time. I also secretly have a favourite dress from our new 2025 collection: it's a double silhouette of satin and tulle, filled with 'cabochons' (crystals), with no train and very light sewing."

Influences for the new collections

When we ask Merche what influences inspired her new collections, she says: "The trends respond to the evolution of the bridal world as well as the fashion world. All influences from our environment have an impact on our creative work, including social media and artificial intelligence. It is very difficult to isolate yourself; to a greater or lesser extent, these influences are reflected in the collections. It is a fact, though, that there is now extra artistic pressure due to social media and AI; designing is simultaneously a responsibility and an 'unknown'. The information that surrounds us, of any kind, I have always considered necessary and very stimulating."

The new collections are also bathed in sustainability. Merche: "We always try to be as sustainable as possible. For example, our brand produces all our dresses here, in Spain. The garments are made with the highest level of craftsmanship and we use fabrics with proven sustainable characteristics."

Merche's tips for brides

Merche: "I want to reach brides who can fully identify with the brand's style. My advice to every bride is to be very true to her requirements, and to follow their feelings. It's about a very important and unique dress, which will reflect them and stay with them forever."

About Merche Segarra and her design process

Merche: "The fabric trends at the international Première Vision fair in Paris were an incredible source of inspiration for me. The fabrics played with light, as it were - we knew immediately how we were going to get started. Light is fundamental to us as human beings, and today also to our collection."

"My design process consists of many choices: choosing the materials, choosing the right volume and line, and choosing the details that give the model its precise character. From then on, each dress leads its own life. I enjoy establishing a personal relationship with all the dresses, in order to givethem the touch that sets them apart every time. The design process, from the first sketch to the final dress, takes about a few months. Every dress is different. Designing is always a challenge, and a great adventure. That is both the charm and the difficulty of it. Every possible approach and every 'problem'to be solved always offer an opportunity to create," says Merche.

"Our new collection today adds an extra dimension to our previous collections; this is because it allowsa dynamic 'mix & match' . Our distributors appreciate the flexibility this approach gives to their varied offerings," Merche concludes.

Thank you for answering our questions, Merche, and congratulations on the new collection packed with beautiful dresses! We already enjoyed Jesús Peiró's fashion show and the new dresses for 2025 very much.
