Saturday 20 April 2024, 3pm - Global Bridal House (GBS Herve Paris, Libelle, Modeca & Randy Fenoli Bridal)

Our last show was immediately three in one. The brands GBS Herve Paris, Libelle, Modeca and Randy Fenoli Bridal, which fall under the group Global Bridal House, shared their fashion show together.

First up were GBS Herve Paris and Libelle. A woman in a romantic wedding gown and a man in a pale striped suit walked the catwalk together, accompanied by sounds of thunder and lightning. Lots of dreamy, flowy dresses followed to upbeat music. Still spotted: lots of lace and halter necks, beautiful back necklines, loose sleeves and sheer fabrics.

Modeca then graced the catwalk with lots of lace, glitter details, capes, loose sleeves, 3D flowers, tulle, deep necklines and pearls. Some high slits and watteau drags stood out, as well as special back necklines and dresses where one shoulder is exposed and the other is covered with a large flower or bow. The impressive finale of this collection: a mostly black dress with a large white bow on the back.

Finally, it was the turn of Randy Fenoli Bridal - well known from the programme Say Yes To The Dress. There was no lack of princess dresses, lace and glitter - some dresses, veils and gloves were even completely studded with pearls. Striking features of this collection: visible corsets, belts with a bow, sweetheart necklines, halter necks, capes, transparent fabrics, 3D flowers and off-shoulder dresses. At a fast pace, the models followed each other on the catwalk. Even a sparkly mini dress with frills - perfect for a dance party! - nicely paraded by.

The finale, where all the models walked down the catwalk together once more, was a real party to Beyoncé's Break My Soul. At this, Randy Fenoli himself also made his display on the catwalk.

Saturday 20 April 2024, 11:30 a.m. - Sima Couture

At Sima Couture's fashion show, the princess level was very high. One princess dress with full skirt and long train after the other was presented, including lots of lace, 3D flowers, pearls, tiaras and lots and lots of bling bling. Every dress glittered.

Here again, there were lots of visible corsets - always tied with ribbons in the back, strapless dresses, sweetheart necklines, ruffles, feathers and sequins. Capes, sheer fabrics, loose sleeves and detachable skirts and drags were also in evidence.

Friday, April 19, 2024, 9pm - Pronovias

The Pronovias show was a complete event in itself, very exclusive and at a different venue from the rest of the shows: the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya, located in the National Palace on Barcelona's Montjuïc hill. The dress code was black tie; all attendees here were therefore dressed to impress. Glam content at its best: even Ed Westwick was spotted wearing Pronovias.... Our team saw that it was good. ;-) In this beautiful building, the oval hall with beautiful vaulted arches was impressively dressed up. The show started with a projection of fabrics, materials and the creation of wedding dresses on a spherical circular canvas, which first dropped down and went back up after the projection.

The most striking elements of Pronovias' new collection: impressive capes, large and special collars and shoulder pieces. Black details were also often seen in the shoes, gloves, dark tights and even fishnet stockings. Furthermore, there were lots of transparent fabrics. While we spotted some glittering details and finishes here and there, the princess dresses and bling bling content was much lower in this show. We did see corsets again, some puff sleeves, mini dresses, bows, two-pieces and 3D flowers.

Friday 19 April 2024, 3pm - Demetrios

Day three of Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week and we're at it again. Demetrios' show was hugely dreamy, with one princess dress with full skirt after another - including some soft pink dresses. We spotted many recurring trends: sparkles & bling - of course!, shimmering lace, visible corsets, bare shoulders, loose puff sleeves, sweetheart necklines, halter necks, feathers, ruffles and 3D flowers.

Eye-catching about the new Demetrios collection: lots of impressive capes and ... pearls! There were some dresses and capes made of transparent fabrics, fully finished with pearls. Also innovative: here we saw many scarves (instead of veils), again made of transparent fabrics and sometimes finished with pearls. In addition, other accessories, such as gloves with pearls and small bags with bow details, passed in review.

A plus-size model also walked in this show. At the end of the show, the four models stepped down the catwalk side by side, arm in arm. A heartwarming melting moment!

Thursday 18 April 2024, 4.30pm - Eva Lendel & Woná Concept

At Eva Lendel & Woná Concept, another glamorous -slightly more traditional- show awaited us. At Eva Lendel, we saw one visible corset -including some basque waists, where the seams of the waist curve in a V-shape towards the middle- after another, while at Woná Concept a lot of capes, ruffles, high slits and (even hats with) feathers passed by.

Our favourite trends from this show: off-shoulder dresses, bows, corsets, sweetheart necklines, loose sleeves, puff sleeves, sparkles, pearls and lace!

Thursday, April 18, 2024, 3pm - Carta Branca, Marylise & Rembo Styling

Day two! We were again personally invited to the fashion show of Carta Branca, Marylise and Rembo Styling. The atmosphere of this fashion show was very different from what we had seen so far - groovy disco vibes! The models here walked on disco hits, with disco balls in their hands and big smiles on the dance floor -uhm catwalk. There was no lack of colour either, the suitewear collection was brimming with purple, lime green, orange and dark blue.

We saw an inclusive show here with several plus-size and transgender models. We also spotted Spanish influencer Erola Jons on the catwalk. The trends: glitter & sparkles, halter necks, low back necklines, gloves (also in fishnet fabric!), fringes and ruffles, two-pieces with a skirt and top, and bare shoulders. The dresses were finished with sheer fabrics, watteau drags, 3D flowers, sequins and buttons, among others.

Wednesday 17 April 2024, 7.30pm - The Atelier by Prof Jimmy Choo

The Atelier by Prof. Jimmy Choo brought the glam! Are there any glitter left after this show! Many a little girl's dreams and princess hearts just made a jump. Incredibly dramatic princess dresses - worthy of a royal wedding - passed by on the catwalk here. We noticed influences from Swan Lake and the Elizabethan era. Even architectural influences - with almost church vaults - were incorporated into the dresses.

Striking features of these haute couture dresses: lots of sparkles, glitter & glam, pearls and crystals, big bows, colour (especially light blue, yellow and soft pink), 3D flowers, feathers, visible corsets and also some shoulder pads. We repeat: dramatic, iconic and breathtaking... couture at its finest.

Wednesday 17 April 2024, 1.30pm - Sophie et Voilà

Very innovative: we saw lots of black details in Sophie et Voilà's show. Almost all the models wore black gloves and black stiletto heels. The drop waist - where the waist comes lower than your natural waist, transparent fabrics, watteau drags, loose sleeves and strapless dresses were also explicitly featured. Sophie et Voilà's new collection also featured many minimalist elements, visible corsets and mini dresses.

In this show, we saw less bling than at Jesús Peiró - but lots of satin and sheer fabrics. Perhaps our top favourite: transparent trousers under a satin top - a bit daring, but very nice for your civil wedding, for example!

Wednesday 17 April 2024, 12 noon - The opening show: Jesús Peiró

This morning Iris, Scarlett and Joyce arrived early in Barcelona to join Evelien and Jana. After freshening up, it was on to the first show! We had already been personally invited to this opening show by Jesús Peiró; our name cards were waiting for us in the front row.

We already spotted some striking recurring elements in the opening show: lots of bling bling with crystal finishes and sequins, princess dresses with full skirts, halter-neck dresses, one-shoulder exposed dresses, capes and veils and ... bows! The glitter & glamour level was already very high in this show; that tastes like more!

Monday 15 April 2024 - Prepping for Barcelona!

Within two days we (Iris, Scarlett and Joyce) will fly -very early, thank you Ryanair- to Barcelona, to attend the first fashion shows on Wednesday. Our suitcases are already (partly) packed, and we are counting the days...
