1. Colour trends for 2026: Honeydew, Cherry Mocha & Transformative Teal

Although the international colour institute Pantone will not announce its colour of the year until December, trend watchers are already pointing to three shades that will colour the wedding trends of 2026:

  • Honeydew is a soft pastel green that radiates calm and freshness, perfect for your flowers, invitations, table linen and decorations with a calm and elegant touch.
  • Cherry Mocha combines deep cherry tones with warm mocha brown to create a rich, luxurious atmosphere, ideal for autumn or winter weddings. This winter shade goes well with wood, gold and deep brown accents.
  • Transformative Teal has been officially designated as the colour for 2026 by international trend forecaster WGSN and colour coding system Coloro. The powerful fusion of dark blue and water green, also known under the Coloro code 092-37-14, represents renewal and recovery. The blue-green reflects the diversity of nature and the need for ecological awareness.

These trend colours for 2026 radiate freshness and warmth. They are suitable for both natural outdoor settings and stylish city ceremonies.

2. Eco-chic

Sustainability will remain very important in 2026. You have already seen this reflected in the trend colour Transformative Teal; couples are increasingly making environmentally conscious choices. Think of an eco-chic ceremony with local seasonal flowers and plants or replantable flowers as decoration. Many bridal couples will also choose to work with local suppliers who are committed to climate-neutral energy and renewable energy sources, for example for (seasonal) catering. You can also opt for printed materials on recycled paper, local wedding fashion and jewellery designers or ethically responsible (wedding fashion) brands, sustainable wedding favours such as seeds and plants, and so on.

3. Tailor-made food experience: interactive, informal & stylish

In 2026, more and more couples will opt for a wedding party where the food is a real experience. The catering should surprise, connect and stimulate the senses. The classic three-course formula is increasingly making way for informal and interactive concepts such as walking dinners, sharing dishes or show cooking.

Oyster bars, charcuterie or cheese boards are popular as stylish starters at the reception. Live cooking, such as a food truck with a pizza oven or barbecue on an OFYR or grill, also adds atmosphere and engagement. Sharing is caring: large platters of refined dishes to share at the table remain trendy, as do extensive dessert tables and midnight snacks on the dance floor, such as croques, chips or mini burgers. Personalised cocktails or mocktails will also be all the rage in 2026! They give your drinks an original twist and are often served at a stylish (mobile) bar.

4. Statement flowers

According to the wedding trends for 2026, flowers are back in a big way, striking and full of personality. Couples are opting for lush flower arrangements in warm tones, unexpected combinations and asymmetrical shapes. Think hanging or “floating” installations above the dinner tables, flower-filled backdrops at the ceremony or a cloud of flowers above the dance floor.

Popular flowers include ranunculus, dahlias, anemones and peonies, often combined with dried flowers or seasonal greenery. More and more couples are working with a floral stylist or wedding planner to tailor the styling to their personality, the venue and the season.

5. Wedding dresses with character, volume and texture

In 2026, brides will be opting for dresses that exude character. The classic wedding dress will become a fashion statement, with sculptural shapes, layered fabrics and playful details. Visible corsets and transparent fabrics will create a sensual, glamorous look. Voluminous silhouettes are also making a comeback: from dramatic bubble skirts to modern princess dresses with bows, ruffles or glittering accents.

The bodices attract attention with strapless designs, halter necks or asymmetrical lines, often finished with lace, pearls or glitter. Those who love movement and texture will opt for dresses with pleated layers of tulle, 3D flowers, large sleeves or see-through gloves. In addition, we are seeing more and more colour emerging: light pink, lavender, light blue and silver grey bring a fresh twist to the traditional ivory palette.

Two-piece wedding dresses, mini dresses, veils with hoods or capes provide varying looks throughout the big day. In short: the wedding dress in 2026 is feminine, bold and completely tailored to the bride's personality.

6. Documentary photography style & content creators

More and more couples are opting for a spontaneous photography style. Instead of posed photos, they want to see real moments captured: a tear during the vows, a look of admiration, or children dancing on the grass. This documentary style feels natural and creates personal and timeless memories.

In addition, the wedding content creator is gaining ground. This person provides behind-the-scenes images, short videos and social content that you can share on Instagram or TikTok immediately after your party, without having to pick up your smartphone yourself. A content creator is best seen as a “supplement” to, rather than a replacement for, your professional wedding photographer or videographer. You still want them by your side to capture the most memorable and beautiful photos and videos on your wedding day; the material that a wedding content creator will produce for you serves a different purpose.

7. Luxurious details & branded weddings

Luxury does not necessarily have to be grand or ostentatious. The wedding trends for 2026 are all about “quiet luxury”, refined simplicity and meaningful details. Couples are opting for artisanal touches such as engravings, menu cards with a poem, linen napkins or tablecloths with their initials, a handmade guest book or an original photo booth in their colour palette.

More and more couples are also creating a visual house style for their wedding or “branded wedding”, with their own logo or monogram, colour theme and typography. This forms an elegant thread running through the invitations, menu cards, table numbers and even personalised backdrops or dance floors.

8. Sensory table styling & decorations

In 2026, mealtimes will be more than ever an aesthetic experience. Couples are consciously choosing materials and shapes that radiate atmosphere and personality. Instead of classic round or long tables, they will opt for snake-shaped or winding arrangements that elegantly meander through the space, ideal for outdoor parties or large halls. This shape looks beautiful in photos, creates a connection between guests and a natural flow in the space.

The tables are often decorated with earthy, natural colours such as terracotta, olive and cream, sometimes with copper or rose gold accents. According to the wedding trends for 2026, linen napkins, candles of different heights, handwritten place cards and ceramic tableware are chosen to create a warm, homely atmosphere. The styling is tailored to the surroundings: minimalist in a modern location, organic with wood and greenery for outdoor weddings, or bold in combination with flowers and colour.

The rest of the decor also appeals to the senses: soft fabrics, warm lighting, scented candles or flowers with a distinct fragrance. Outside, lounges are set up under string lights or transparent tents, with soft cushions and natural materials. The overall effect is that the wedding party looks beautiful and feels like a total experience.

9. Guest experience

In 2026, everything will revolve around the experience, for the couple and their guests. In addition to the catering, the ceremony will also be a complete experience and, increasingly, even a visual spectacle, with attention to music, flowers, atmosphere and scenography. According to the wedding trends of 2026, the bride and groom and their guests will walk down flower-lined paths or between “floating” sculptures, sometimes accompanied by live music or light effects during an evening ceremony. These immersive entrances make the start of the wedding as cinematic as the evening party itself. The setting feels almost cinematic: your wedding moment will be like a scene from your own personal love story. At the reception or party, guests can then expect champagne towers, interactive photo booths and other original forms of entertainment. How about a magician or live portrait artist?

Even the smallest details count, such as a handwritten welcome note, a warm blanket by the fire pit, or a personalised thank-you gift with local products. Your guests are sure to feel pampered!

10. Wedding weekends

Multi-day weddings will become hugely popular in 2026: a “welcome drink” or intimate dinner on Friday evening, the ceremony and party on Saturday, and a cosy brunch on Sunday to round off the weekend. According to our National Wedding Survey, 1 in 5 couples are opting for a wedding weekend. More and more venues in Belgium are offering accommodation for family and close friends. This way, you and your guests can create wonderful memories together over several days.

11. Atmospheric technology

Technology is being elegantly integrated into wedding celebrations. Think of QR codes on your invitation that allow your guests to confirm their attendance online, or QR codes on your table numbers that allow guests to upload their own photos to a shared folder. Or how about projections on the tables or even a projection of your story during the opening dance? Special lighting and special effects on the dance floor also create a magical atmosphere.

12. Dress codes

Dress codes remain popular among the trends for 2026, especially among creative couples. Increasingly, guests are given a mood board or (very) specific dress code in the invitation, for example: “earthy elegance”, “black tie boho” or “sunset tones”. This makes for beautiful photos and a coherent whole.

Some couples even ask for a change of outfit between day and evening, or organise a “colour day”: everyone in pastel on Friday and in festive black on Saturday. Matching accessories (such as hats, tiaras or statement hair accessories) or a hint of the theme add that extra touch to the experience.

13. Gen Z wedding trends

Gen Z couples will continue to drive wedding trends in 2026 and put their own stamp on the wedding world. They are more likely to opt for intimate guest lists and styling with a clear identity. Creative, unconventional themes with bold colours and vintage touches, for example, create an original atmosphere.

Personalisation plays a very important role. For example, Gen Z wants to integrate many personal elements into their wedding party – inspired by their hobbies or favourite films or series, for example – they pay attention to everyone's diet or preferences, and they dare to break with traditions that do not suit them. In terms of style, Gen Z couples often opt for multiple outfits and eye-catching accessories.

14. Small is beautiful

More and more couples are opting for a small-scale celebration with an intimate guest list and a big impact. “Micro weddings” or intimate celebrations in a unique, historic or natural location (such as a conservatory, vineyard or hidden chapel) are also among the wedding trends for 2026. Many bridal couples prefer to invest in atmosphere, flowers, styling and good food rather than a long guest list.

Luxury is reduced to what really matters: being together with your loved ones, quality and beauty. You can feel it in every detail: small, but big in experience.

2026 will be a year full of expression: statement wedding dresses, eco-chic ceremonies, a culinary experience, luxury with a personal touch, and technology as an extra mood creator. Add documentary wedding photography, a fun dress code and thematic styling, and you have a wedding that is completely in line with the wedding trends of 2026. Ready to write your personal story full of experiences? It will be beautiful no matter what!
