1. Ambience makers
At your wedding party, you like to create a nice, cosy atmosphere. The right lighting is essential for this. For a romantic setting, choose uplighters at the bottom of the walls of your party room or marquee, for example. Or go for some eye-catchers on your ceiling, in the form of large crystal chandeliers. If you go for a bohemian wedding or are getting married in a farmhouse or barn, then garlands of light will come into their own.
2. Decoration
Light is also a rewarding form of decoration at your wedding party. For example, a gobo is a drawing that you place in front of a light source, creating a projection on the wall. You can also give a part of your venue a certain colour thanks to colour wash lighting. A pin spotlight is also a good idea. With this, you can draw attention to something. For example, you can make your wedding cake a real pièce de résistance!
3. Clear view
While the atmosphere at your party is obviously very important, don't forget that a room shouldn't be too dark during dinner either. After all, guests like to see what they have on their plates! This is why it is useful to also provide functional lighting during the banquet. For example, choose spotlights with a pleasant, soft light or provide some uplighters. After dinner, this lighting can be turned off to make the atmosphere more intimate.
4. Kitchen violence
Are you working with a caterer at your wedding? Then it is very important that they have enough light to do their job. If they can work in an existing kitchen, this is probably fine. However, if you have provided a separate room or tent for your caterer, it is best to think about providing functional light. That way the soup won't burn...
5. Dance away
When you are ready to dance the night away at your evening party, it is nice if you have appropriate lighting. Check in advance with your venue or audiovisual partner whether party lighting is available. If not, you can make arrangements with your lighting & sound partner.
6. Lights in the dark
Even if your party is indoors, it is fun to decorate your venue‘s garden. For example, you can light up the walkway or some beautiful trees, or hang the trees or façade full of atmospheric garlands of lights. This adds an extra touch to your wedding party and shows that everything is done to perfection.
7. Parking
Don't forget to provide lights in the car park. When your guests leave your party in the early hours of the morning, it will be pitch black. This makes it extra difficult to find their car again, especially if the car park is quite a distance from your party location. Ease this scavenger hunt by providing lighting on and to the car park - unless this comes as standard at your wedding venue.
