The difference between a wedding planner, master of ceremonies and ceremony speaker

The terms wedding planner, master of ceremonies and ceremony speaker are sometimes used somewhat interchangeably. Yet they each have their own responsibilities - which are invaluable. We like to explain the difference between these three types of vendors and tell you how they each contribute in their own way to an unforgettable wedding day.

Wedding planner

A wedding planner is involved in planning and organising your wedding from start to finish. A wedding planner deals with the complete picture of your wedding - think of the decoration, flowers, music, furniture,...

Your wedding planner coordinates all aspects of your wedding and hires the necessary wedding suppliers for each part, so you don't have to arrange it all yourself. This may also include booking a master of ceremonies or a ceremony speaker . A wedding planner always works closely with you to understand all your wishes and turn them into a perfectly planned wedding.

Master of ceremonies

A master of ceremonies has a protocol function: he or she guides the family and guests mainly during the ceremony, and has an eye for the timing and organisation of the day. If you wish, he or she can also stay longer and accompany you until the evening party, for example.

Your master of ceremonies knows all the ins & outs of wedding etiquette. Think about the placement of your guests, your entrance as a couple, the arrangement of the suite(s) and so on. A master of ceremonies ensures a smooth transition between all the key moments throughout the day. Discretion, timing and an eye for detail are the magic words here. Your master of ceremonies is like a director who works behind the scenes and makes sure everything happens at the right time. So you don't have to keep an eye on the clock yourself. All you have to do is enjoy yourself.

Ceremony speaker

A ceremony speaker talks your wedding ceremony together. He or she will help you - and your loved ones - find the right words to tell your wedding story in a beautiful way. By hiring a ceremony speaker, you secure a professional partner who can convey your love story in a unique and compelling way in front of you and your guests. He or she will know how to articulate your intimate thoughts, vows, rituals and speeches perfectly. Sometimes romantic, sometimes solemn, often with the necessary humour, but always starting from your most personal love story.
