Step 1: Check & go
House of Weddings likes to make things easy for you! Sign up for our handy checklist to help you organise your wedding from A(enquiry) to Z(organless honeymoon). It's super easy to keep track of your state of affairs. We will send you the latest to-do's every fortnight, which you can tick off as soon as you have completed them. Handy!
Step 2: First things first
Using a target budget, discuss how much you want to spend on your wedding party and try to stick to this guideline. Also decide who will contribute what, towards the cost of your party. Then sit down at the drawing table to visualise your ideas using a mood board. Think about atmosphere, decoration, experience, location,.... and use this mood board as a guide while planning and organising.
Step 3: Where, when and first suppliers
Once you have a clear idea of exactly what you want, start looking for the suitable party venue or marquee supplier. Keep in mind your mood board, your number of guests and your budget. Once you find the ideal venue, you technically know the date for your wedding day. Now you can start looking for a graphic designer or printer for your save the dates. Also contact some suppliers such as a caterer -if your venue is free of catering-, a photographer, videographer and DJ.
Step 4: Ceremony
During your most beautiful day later on, one of the most important things will probably be your ceremony. Find a ceremony speaker if you opt for a symbolic ceremony, or make an appointment at the church for the blessing of your marriage. Also think about possible musical acts during your ceremony.
Step 5: Pamper yourself
Very important: your wedding dress! Round up your mum, sister(s) or best friend for your ultimate 'Say yes to the dress' moment. Then get a professional hair & make-up artist who will make you shine on your big day.
Step 6: Your 'dream team' of wedding professionals
Contact all necessary suppliers such as a florist, graphic designer, transport, a rental company for furniture and decorations and audiovisual equipment. Also think about your honeymoon. Where would you like to go?
Leave all the work to a wedding planner. Have a carefree wedding day with these wedding professionals.
Step 7: Rings
The rings: an important part of the ceremony, and an even more important part of your wedding. Therefore, visit a jeweller or jewellery designer about seven months in advance to pick out the rings that will symbolise your marriage.
Step 8: Formalities
Some six months before your wedding date, it is best to get the necessary paperwork in order: go to the municipality for the declaration of your marriage (the initial marriage licence), draw up an initial schedule and discuss your marriage contract with the notary.
Step 9: Outfits & looks
Your groom-to-be will also look peaky on your big day. Send your groom out to pick out his suit, shoes and accessories. While your fiancé sets off on his quest, get pampered by your hair & make-up artist for your trial hairstyle and trial make-up.
Step 10: Final meeting
Three months to go? Then the final meeting is almost in sight. Send out invitations about eight to six weeks before your wedding and start looking for cute thank-you gifts. Call guests who have not yet confirmed their invitation . Then you can finalise your guest list, pass it on to your suppliers and draw up a table plan. A few weeks before your wedding day, finalise your script and write your vows.
From then on: enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!
