What is an after-wedding shoot?
Engagement shoots and love shoots might already be familiar to you. These are romantic photoshoots you do with your partner and a photographer, often to celebrate your engagement. After wedding shoots or post-wedding shoots are becoming increasingly popular. This is an (extra) photoshoot where you take wedding photos, but days or weeks, or even months after your wedding.
That one wedding day often passes way too quickly. Amid all the fun and exciting moments, it's sometimes difficult to relax and really focus on capturing the most beautiful photos. An after-wedding shoot offers the perfect solution: a relaxed photoshoot at a unique location, where you can take your time.
Why choose an after-wedding shoot?
Why opt for an after-wedding shoot? Maybe you aren't 100% satisfied with your wedding photos, or you want to get more out of them. Perhaps you just can't get enough of posing with your brand new husband or wife and want to capture your love on film. Or maybe your wedding day schedule was already full, and you'd prefer to have the photoshoot later at a calmer time. All reasons are valid!
Maybe you or your partner have a second outfit you'd like to showcase. Or perhaps the weather didn't allow for the photos you envisioned. With an after-wedding shoot, you choose the where and when—independent of your wedding date—giving you essentially another chance to take your wedding photos in different circumstances. It can even be at a unique location you couldn't reach on your wedding day—maybe even at your exotic honeymoon destination?

For the photos in this article, Laura and Koen went with photographer Elisabeth Van Lent to Terhills in Maasmechelen for their after-wedding shoot. Why? Laura shares: “Our wedding day flew by, and we ended up with less time for photos than expected. Additionally, we wanted to choose a moment with the best weather and light to wear our wedding attire again.” During the after-wedding shoot, Laura, Koen, and photographer Elisabeth Van Lent took all the time necessary to create photos that made them truly happy.
