Why Mauritius?
Located in the Indian Ocean, east of Madagascar and around eleven hours by plane from Paris, you’ll find the paradise island of Mauritius. A perfect harmony of white sandy beaches, lagoons bluer than blue, palm trees, and bright sunshine.
If Paradise on Earth exists, you’ll get a taste of it there. In the northern part of the island, long ago, British conquerors were seen landing on its shores. Today, things look a little different: luxury hotels often welcome celebrities from all over the world. Of course, Mauritius has much more to offer than simply lounging on pearl-white beaches or completely forgetting daily life during a wellness treatment.

Hiking in Black River Gorges
Fancy a fun trip during your beach stay in Mauritius? Then we recommend visiting Black River Gorges National Park. In terms of nature, it’s the most beautiful area in Mauritius.
Black River is perfect for hours of hiking, taking you past various waterfalls, impressive viewpoints, and the top attraction, The Seven Coloured Earth near Chamarel—also home to the waterfall with the greatest drop.
A hike through the park becomes even more exciting thanks to the gigantic bats, also called flying foxes. But don’t worry: you don’t need to be afraid of these creatures. They wouldn’t hurt a fly!
Curepipe
After Port Louis, Curepipe is the largest city in Mauritius and is known for its textile industry. Be sure to visit one of the many workshops where model ships are built. You can shop to your heart’s content, and in the evening the cozy bars and restaurants are the place to be.

Head out in a 4x4
A more adventurous option is a trip in an open 4x4 through the hilly landscape of the Domaine des Chasseurs, a nature reserve spanning over 1,500 hectares near Mahébourg in the east. You’ll also find the Musée Naval there, full of memories of pirate king Robert Surcouf. The park overflows with wild orchids and palm trees and is remarkable for the rare arbre du voyageur.
The gardens of Pamplemousses
The famous Pamplemousses gardens, located south of Port Louis, are a must-see. This beautiful park of no less than 24 hectares introduces you to rare tree species, including 60 types of palm trees. The absolute highlight is undoubtedly the gigantic water lilies floating on the lakes. They’re so sturdy they can carry a small child.
Diving and snorkeling
Last but certainly not least: go snorkeling or diving. Not only is there plenty to discover inland, but Mauritius’s underwater world is also more than worth it. You don’t have to go far into the water to spot a spectrum of colorful fish and corals. Not a fan of diving? Go sailing or water skiing.

Trou aux Biches
The stunning Trou aux Biches guarantees freedom, space, and tranquility in harmony with nature. This hotel is one of the most legendary in Mauritius, nestled in a beautiful tropical garden.
