1. The variety of landscapes

Italy splits into 20 regions, and each region can be recognised by a number of characteristics. If you go to Tuscany on your honeymoon, you will enjoy vineyards, ancient abbeys, vast landscapes and great sandy beaches. If you go to Amalfi, then you will definitely think of colourful houses against the rocks, lemons and small beaches. In addition, Italy is also home to some popular cities. Visit Venice, Rome, Milan, Naples or Verona on your honeymoon. Or head out by car and plan a romantic road trip along all these beautiful places.

2. Pizza, pasta & gelato

Italian cuisine, it makes everyone happy. Pizza, pasta, risotto, fresh fish... Gelato and tiramisu also taste just that little bit better in Italy. The secret ingredient? Italian sunshine and a big scoop of love!

3. A wonderful Mediterranean climate

The Mediterranean climate ensures that southern Italy enjoys pleasant temperatures and plenty of sunshine all year round. In the north, it can get very cold in winter, but during the summer months you can enjoy the lovely Italian sunshine everywhere! You are guaranteed to be a (few) shade(s) tanner after your honeymoon here.

4. The ancient culture

Those on a (honeymoon) trip to Italy will be amazed by the incredibly rich culture that characterises the country. Rome, Florence and Parma are some well-known cities that enjoy exceptional cultural richness. But also throughout the entire country you will come across ancient temples, beautiful abbeys and ‘small wonders’ such as Cinque Terre.

5. Red Vespas

The Vespa is one of the most popular means of transport in Italy, especially for tourists who want the full Italian experience. Rent a typical red Vespa during your honeymoon and trek along the most beautiful villages and beaches of the Amalfi Coast, drive through the streets of Rome or traverse the vineyards of Tuscany. Your Instagram feed will thank you!

6. Cosy beaches

Are you heading to the Amalfi Coast during your honeymoon? Then be sure to descend towards the beach at Positano. From here you may have the most beautiful view you will ever see from the sea (we won't spoil the fun, just do it!). You will also find little romantic beaches on Lake Garda and Lake Como.

7. Rich art history

Art lovers enjoy Italy's great museums and beautiful architecture to their hearts' content. In Florence, visit the Ufizzi, while in Rome you can visit the Sistine Chapel and the Colosseum. Fashion there is also an art in itself. Milan meets all expectations in this area and the Gucci Garden in Florence is equally worth a visit!

8. The many small towns

Venice, Rome, Milan, Naples... Everyone knows the big(er) cities of Italy. However, when driving through the various landscapes, you will come across many smaller towns that are equally worth a visit and where there are probably far fewer tourists. Go out, explore at will and return with memories of small towns that others have not yet discovered!

9. A paradise for photography

Even if you choose a honeymoon in Italy that isolates you from the world for a while, it is recommended to bring a good smartphone or camera. After all, the colourful cottages, beautiful nature and cultural heritage are dream locations for Instagram lovers. Here you will take pictures that are literally picture-perfect and that you will want to look back at for years to come!

10. The family character

Italians are open, sincere people who love their traditions. This makes it a real pleasure to get to know them. Go for an authentic pasta in a cosy family restaurant, and learn about all that this beautiful country and its people offer.

11. The smallest country in the world

The smallest country is in Rome. Indeed, within the city walls of ancient Rome lies the independent state of ‘Vatican City’. At 44 hectares, it is the smallest country in the world. So after your honeymoon, you can actually cross two countries off the world map!
