The queen of engagement rings

A 'brilliant' remains the most popular cut. With its 58 facets, this cut radiates unparalleled brilliance. "The round brilliant symbolises eternal love and purity, and its timeless appeal makes it a favourite among couples. Having choice stress when buying the engagement ring? This shape will undoubtedly charm your partner," Charlotte says.

Modern elegance

Would you like to add a touch of originality and elegance? "Fancy shapes give your engagement ring even more character. With an oval, pear or cushion, you're definitely in the right place. These cut shapes lean close to the brilliant, but highlight your partner's personality and style," assures Josephine.

Oval and drop or pear diamonds have a modern and stylish look. They optically elongate your ring finger for an extra feminine and sophisticated look.

In turn, cushion or cushion-shaped diamonds have large facets and rounded edges, resulting in breathtaking sparkle.

When choosing fancy shapes, the team at Scaldis pays extra attention to the cut. "The 'cut' should be very good so that the gemstone has a beautiful sparkle. If the diamond is not cut optimally, you might see dark areas where the light is not reflected properly. Thanks to our years of experience as a certified diamond dealer, we only select diamonds with the best cut," Charlotte says.

A grand gesture

"Are you looking for an engagement ring that stands out? At Scaldis, in that case we look towards 'art deco' rings," says Charlotte.

"A touch of glamour is effortlessly created with the emerald cut. This rectangular cut emphasises the clarity of the gemstone and gives your engagement ring a vintage flair - a wonderful choice for lovers of classic romance. If your partner likes avant-garde and a more bohemian look, then the 'marquis' shape is an excellent choice. This is a real eye-catcher that also makes hands look longer and narrower."

Personal creation

A combination of cut shapes is of course also possible. "Together with the customer, we look for a ring that completely suits the couple," says Josephine. "For example, we recently created an engagement ring with a central sapphire and an entourage of alternating pearls and brilliants. An original engagement ring that we designed together with the customer and which was realised by our goldsmiths."

"So the diamond does not necessarily have to be chosen as the central gemstone," Charlotte adds. "The fancy shape diamonds are the perfect finishing touch to the design."
