What is Viva Magenta?
Pantone’s Color of the Year, Viva Magenta, is a vibrant and powerful red. The color represents courage, joie de vivre, and a new story.
Viva Magenta is also a hybrid color, offering a balance between warm and cool, and bridging the physical and virtual in our multidimensional world. The dynamic red shade is transformative and aims to create a more positive future.

Back to nature
In this age of technology, Pantone draws inspiration from nature: “PANTONE 18-1750 Viva Magenta is inspired by the red of cochineal, one of the most precious natural dyes and one of the strongest and brightest the world has ever known,” says Pantone itself. During their selection process, they observed a heightened appreciation and awareness of nature: “The Color of the Year 2023 acknowledges our attraction to natural colors as movements around climate change, sustainability, and land protection grow.”
You can also see that return to nature reflected in lifestyle trends such as having lots of plants and flowers at home, traveling more again, ... We’re noticing it in the wedding trends of 2023 as well—among other things in ‘living room styling’, i.e. creating a homely setting with plants, sustainability, striking floral arrangements, and destination weddings.
Incorporating Viva Magenta into your wedding?
Since Viva Magenta encourages boundlessness and self-expression without restraint... Will you go for a bold statement with a red wedding dress or a red wedding suit? Or would you rather leave the red shades to your suit attire, stationery, flowers, decor, or accessories? With this bold and inclusive color that welcomes everything and everyone, anything is possible!

Other trend colors of 2023: Digital Lavender and something blue
According to international trend forecaster WGSN and the color-coding system Coloro, the color of 2023 is Digital Lavender, a light purple shade. The cheerful, soft lavender tone, known under the Coloro code 134-67-16, gives you a calm and serene feeling. This gender-neutral color creates a stable and positive environment.
We’re also seeing a lot of bright, eye-catching blues. Shades of blue and lavender will therefore also be a popular choice in 2023 for bridesmaid dresses or for the groom’s outfit. Incorporate these blue tones and subtle pastel shade into your stationery, your accessories or jewelry, your table decor, wedding cake, and so on.
