1. Scattering rose petals

A tradition that has existed for years at weddings. Roses are a symbol of love and happiness. Do you use them as decoration for your ceremony venue or reception hall, as a replacement for throwing rice after the ceremony…? The possibilities are endless, and the result is always stylish and colorful. Instant happiness

2. Lighting a candle

We all know traditions like exchanging wedding rings and a father walking his daughter down the aisle. But did you know there are also very beautiful candle rituals? For example, light a candle together for loved ones who are no longer with you. Or have your mothers light a candle, which you then use as a couple to light the large wedding candle together.

3. Handfasting

This is an ancient Celtic ritual in which a ribbon is tied around the hands of the bride and groom. In the past, this way of marrying was legally valid. Today, it forms a special symbol of the bond you are entering into. After you say your vows, the ribbon is untied to show that you choose each other freely and continue forward together.

4. Sand ceremony

In this ritual, you take turns pouring colored sand into a beautiful glass vase. Do you have children? Then they can also play a role in this ritual. Afterwards, you’ll have an original keepsake of this special moment, and the colors blend even more… extra symbolic!

5. Treasure chest

Write love letters to each other and keep them in a “treasure chest” that you fill and nail shut during the wedding ceremony. Agree to open it after five years (or during a difficult moment in your relationship) and read the letters. Bet you’ll instantly relive those intense feelings from your wedding day?

6. Wishing tree

During your ceremony, let guests write down wishes on cards to hang on a wishing tree or store in a wish box. Afterwards, you’ll enjoy reliving your beautiful day even more thanks to all the sweet, funny, and heartwarming wishes from your guests.
