Double celebration!
Fien and Marie got engaged on June 24, 2022. Exactly a year later, on June 24, 2023, they said their vows in a civil ceremony. They decided to hold their wedding celebration a year later over a summer weekend from July 12 to 14, 2024. During these three days, they wanted to fully celebrate their love, with plenty of time and space to enjoy everything in detail.

Tailored wedding weekend: arrival on Friday
Fien and Marie rented two holiday homes near their venue, Heerlyckheyt Roonenbergh in Westouter. On Friday, July 12, 2024, their closest family and friends arrived. This early arrival was a conscious choice, Marie and Fien explain: “We wanted to start our weekend connected, rather than waiting anxiously. By gathering on Friday, everyone could settle in, and a pleasant atmosphere was created immediately. It was a cozy evening filled with relaxed togetherness, chats, and a few last preparations.”

Breakfast & getting ready together on Saturday morning
On the morning of July 13, 2024, Fien, Marie, and their guests enjoyed an extensive breakfast. Afterwards, they calmly got ready together for the big day, surrounded by their loved ones.
Fien wore a dress by Jesus Peiro, while Marie chose a gown by Pronovias. Their hair and makeup were flawlessly done by Tendenza.

The decor at Heerlyckheyt Roonenbergh was meticulously executed by Justine of Just Us. Fien shares: “Justine, the wife of our caterer Bart Biebauw, took care of all the décor. From setting up the tent, and arranging tables, to coordinating with suppliers—she handled it. The catering by Bart Biebauw and the organization by Justine gave us a complete package.” Picobello provided the furniture, table linens, and decorations. Everything exuded elegance and uniqueness, perfectly matching Marie and Fien’s style.

A personal and emotional ceremony
The ceremony was undoubtedly the most touching moment of the entire weekend. Fien and Marie crafted it themselves and asked Fien’s sister to lead the ceremony. “That made it very personal,” the couple shares. “Our guests also mentioned it to us afterwards: the love was truly palpable.”

Musical reception with atmosphere
After the ceremony, the party continued seamlessly. Fien and Marie chose not to have a separate reception for their parents' friends—all invited guests stayed from start to finish. “That kept the atmosphere lively,” they explain. “Our saxophonist Louis Barocco from partysax.be brought energy to the reception. The live music was a great decision.” Under the summer sun, everyone enjoyed the music, engaging conversations, and a relaxed atmosphere.

Summer dinner
Caterer Bart Biebauw served a dinner with summer flavors and refined dishes. Wedding photographer Annelies Gailliaert from Annelies Photos captured every detail throughout the day: from emotional looks during the ceremony to the first dance and everything in between. Her spontaneous style made Fien and Marie feel completely at ease.

Into the early hours
After dinner, DJ Olivier Lemaire took charge, and the evening party erupted. The dance floor filled quickly, and the atmosphere remained vibrant until the early hours.

Sunday brunch
After a short night, Marie, Fien, and their friends and family gathered again for a delightful brunch as a finale. It was a peaceful moment to relish memories together and gradually bid farewell to an unforgettable wedding weekend.

Fien & Marie's tips for engaged couples
Fien and Marie share a few top tips for future couples:
Stay true to yourself: “Move away from traditions that mean nothing to you. Well-intended advice from family can be helpful but isn’t always what you need. Stay true to yourselves as a couple and do your own thing. That way, you get the most personal wedding where you can truly enjoy yourself.”
Opt for one reception, with live music: “We chose not to host a separate reception for our parents' friends. All guests stayed from the ceremony to the evening party. This kept the atmosphere lively from the start, and it remained that way until the end. The saxophonist at our reception also helped create a lively ambiance.”
Go for a wedding weekend: “It provides breathing space, connection, more atmosphere, and less stress.”
