Ghosting, what does it mean?
‘Ghosting’ someone means suddenly stopping communicating, without warning or explanation. This can happen in various contexts, whether in relationships, friendships or professional situations. One of the parties disappears suddenly and without further interaction; there is no more contact.
Ghosting wedding suppliers
- Wedding suppliers have noticed an increase in this phenomenon recently: some couples request quotes, sometimes have further interactions, and then don't hear back. This can cause confusion for suppliers, as they do not know whether there will be another response - making it more difficult to set up their planning properly. For example, suppliers sometimes have to turn down couples because a particular date is still reserved for someone else, while in the meantime that person has already booked elsewhere without letting us know.
Open communication
It is completely understandable to want to request information from several suppliers before making your choice. However, it is very valuable to let something be known if you decide not to work with someone. When doing so, also tell why you are choosing someone else. This could be for various reasons, for example: because you had a different price in mind, because the style does not appeal to you as much, because you received a personal recommendation, and so on. Know that suppliers will not take this personally, they actually appreciate this communication and feedback a lot!
