The technique
Remember when you were a child and you cut snowflakes or dolls out of a folded white sheet of paper and, when you unfolded it, you got a beautiful ‘lace’ result? You can achieve that effect with laser cutting. A laser is used to cut out specific shapes, letters, or numbers from paper, fabric, or wood. Other materials, and even vegetables, fruit, and confectionery, are also suitable for this technique.
Laser cutting allows you to create a repetitive pattern, a specific shape that keeps coming back. These can be romantic flowers, plants, or rosettes that give a delicate lace-like look, or more geometric shapes, numbers, or letters. You can even create silhouettes of objects and mini scenes.

The application
1. The most common laser cutting application for a wedding is undoubtedly in your stationery. Your invitations, save-the-date cards, menu cards, and thank-you cards can be laser cut to create the atmosphere you want. Choose abstract, romantic figures or incorporate your silhouettes into your printed materials using laser cutting.

2. Laser cutting also has many useful applications for your decorations. Think of flags and garlands, personalized wooden symbols or names, tea light holders, tablecloths, signs to guide your guests to the right location, and so on.

3. Backdrops, the decorative walls or hanging structures behind a couple during the ceremony or in the reception hall, can also be designed using laser cutting. Hang a laser-cut curtain with a ‘lace’ effect, or opt for a green plant wall with your laser-cut initials or favorite saying. Stylish and subtle.

4. On top of your cake, you can place your initials or silhouette in wooden laser-cut letters. Or go for a cake with a complete laser-cut look: you can have the icing that covers your cake laser-cut - as if your cake were covered in a chic layer of lace!
5. Finally, you can also create a laser-cut effect in your party outfit. Think of a wedding dress with a lace look, or keep your wedding dress simple but choose a top, scarf, overcoat, or train in a laser-cut style.
