1. Peaky Blinders
In the wedding suit trends for 2022, we see the ‘Peaky Blinders’ suit, which has already been popular in recent years, continuing to grow in popularity. The Peaky Blinders-style suit is a three-piece wedding suit with a slim fit. This trend is a stylish interpretation of the British style of the 1920s. “These suits are made in retro fabrics with a houndstooth or check pattern with a contrasting waistcoat, and sometimes the outfit even includes the typical cap or flat cap,” says Yannick De Waele of Herenmode De Waele.

2. Green is the new black
A green wedding suit is becoming increasingly popular. Specialist retailer Labaere has also noticed this in their collection, says Olivier Labaere: “Green is now a color that we sell almost as much as blue.” From dark green to olive green or even mint green, all shades are possible. Tom De Bleeckere of Atelier Smalville adds: “Those special colors that no one used to ask for are now all the rage!” Bruno Van Gils, of Café Costume, concludes: “Green is the new black.”

3. Moving away from tradition
“The really typical traditional ceremonial suit and the tuxedo are having a harder time; the groom's focus is really on an outfit that can be worn again afterwards,” says Yannick from Herenmode De Waele. Men are increasingly opting for a looser fit, in a more casual style of wedding suit. In addition, the more sporty style with stretch fabrics is also becoming more popular, according to Tom from Atelier Smalville: “This type of outfit still looks slim and gives you a lot of freedom of movement.”
“Much more often than usual, sneakers are worn with wedding suits, which means that the fabric choice for a wedding suit is more sporty,” says Ralph van den Hout of The Suitlab.
4. Accessories are back in style
Consider the details. Without accessories, your wedding look is not complete. Ralph from The Suitlab says: “Combine your wedding suit with a matching bow tie, personalized cufflinks, or a pair of stylish suspenders. The waistcoat is also still very popular.”
Go for a cool bracelet or an elegant watch as finishing touches.

5. Matte fabric
The choice of fabric is perhaps the most challenging part. Nowadays, people are opting more for ‘matte’ fabric - fabric that does not shine, such as cotton, for example. Specialist retailer Labaere has seen a real increase in demand for wedding suits in cotton. It is a comfortable fabric that has a casual look. Would you like to be able to wear your wedding suit after your wedding day? Then this type of matte fabric certainly offers options.
“Fabrics with more ‘individuality’ and different compositions (such as a more complex composition of wool, linen, and silk together, instead of 100% wool or 100% cotton) that feel different are also trending. We're not talking about average fabrics; they're more exciting than classic fabrics,” adds specialty store Café Costume.

6. A tailor-made suit
It is important that you feel good in your wedding suit. That is why more and more grooms are opting for a tailor-made suit. You can be sure that the fit is right and you can put together the suit entirely according to your wishes. This way, your wedding suit will always be unique. And nowadays, there are also many suppliers who can tailor your wedding suit to your specifications.

7. Light colors
In the summer, light colors are particularly popular for wedding suits. These are combined with a waistcoat and trousers. According to Café Costume, the colors mainly range from light blue to mint green, but they are also seeing more bold colors.

These wedding suit trends for 2022 are of course great to know, but the most important thing is that you feel good in your wedding suit. House of Weddings wishes you every success in your search for the perfect wedding suit!
