A Race Against Time
On March 18, 2023, Yasmine and Simen got engaged and they decided to marry in September that year. Yasmine shares, “Although we had only six months to plan our wedding, it truly became our dream wedding. The fact that everything could be arranged so quickly in such a short time made it extra special for us. Thankfully, our wedding venue Domein Clos St. Denis managed many things: catering, service, table decor, lighting and sound... it was very convenient! The renovated Domein Clos St. Denis had just opened; we were among the first couples to marry there. We found this very special.”

Personal Printwork
As a graphic designer, Yasmine managed many things herself. Yasmine: “I designed our invitations, decorations, table printwork, and more. I also made a little newspaper for our ceremony. It was a lot of work, but I’m very proud of the result!”

Yasmine continues, “Additionally, we were supported by vendors we found online or through recommendations from friends who were already married. The flowers were arranged by De Bloemenhal, an acquaintance of ours, who really listened to our wishes!”

Tailored Wedding Dress
Yasmine had a clear vision of her dream dress, and a plan to get it within their budget: “I bought my wedding dress -by Margaux Tardits- at a sample sale in a Brussels boutique. Then La Mariée à Bicyclette, a seamstress in Perwez, beautifully tailored it into my dream dress. She also made a veil for me. It’s so wonderful to feel beautiful in your wedding dress, and I owe it to her!”

The Big Day... with an Unexpected Heatwave!
On September 9, 2023, Yasmine and Simen’s big day arrived! Although their wedding took place in September, they were surprised by a massive heatwave with temperatures up to 33 degrees. “At the last minute, we ordered fans for the guests during the ceremony - best purchase ever!” laughs Yasmine. “Extra hairspray, makeup, deodorant, and a spare shirt for the men were also no luxury, as well as enough water, cooling, and parasols.”

First Look!
Once Yasmine and Simen were fully ready for their big day, they shared an emotional first moment: their first look. “It was very special to see each other in our wedding outfits for the first time! Our photoshoot with Andres from LUX Visual Storytellers was also a special and beautiful moment,” Yasmine recalls.

Vows at the Town Hall
After their first look and initial photos, the couple, along with their closest friends and family, headed to the town hall. During this ceremony, Yasmine and Simen officially said their vows, surrounded by their loved ones. Yasmine: “It was a beautiful moment: brief but powerful, and simultaneously the start of our big celebration!”

Emotional Vows
After the town hall ceremony, the newlyweds and their family and friends moved to the wedding venue Domein Clos St. Denis, where the ceremony took place. Yasmine says, “Our ceremony was beautiful and filled with emotions. When Simen and I read our vows to each other, we both shed tears. This was the most beautiful moment of our day for us; we will never forget it.”

Atmospheric Reception and Dinner with a Surprise
After the emotional ceremony, the couple and their guests could cool off during the reception in the garden of Domein Clos St. Denis. “Many people sought extra cooling. The bubbles flowed abundantly and the warmth made their effect noticeable even sooner!” laughs Yasmine.

The dinner then took place at Domein Clos St. Denis with delicious dishes. After dinner, the newlyweds and their guests got a sneak peek of the wedding photos. “Our photographer Andres from LUX Visual Storytellers had already edited the first 50 photos. He showed them through a slideshow, resulting in tears, laughter, and proud feelings. It was a highly noteworthy moment, full of beautiful photos - really a must!”
To close the dinner delightfully, a wedding cake made by Tartelotte was served. Yasmine: “We had a special request: hand-painted flowers on the cake. It was a challenge, but Tartelotte did an amazing job; we were super satisfied!”

Partying into the Early Hours
The evening ended with a lively party, with DJ Erwin Bovy keeping the atmosphere energetic. Guests also had fun taking photos with the photobooth and at the light letters, provided by Feestburo. The dance floor remained packed until the early hours, after which the couple and their close ones enjoyed a relaxing overnight stay at Domein Clos St. Denis.

Enjoying a Cozy Breakfast Afterward
The next morning, Yasmine, Simen, and their close family and witnesses enjoyed a delicious breakfast at Domein Clos St. Denis. “It was so nice to reminisce together about the night before - albeit with a hangover!” laughs Yasmine.
Yasmine & Simen’s Tips for Future Couples
Yasmine and Simen fondly remember their wedding day, full of love, emotions, and unforgettable moments: “This was the happiest day of our lives so far.” They offer a few final tips for engaged couples:
1. Enjoy Every Moment
“You have a certain image of how your day will unfold, but everything goes very quickly and there may be surprises. Ultimately, you just have to let go, especially when surrounded by your best friends and family! My sister, who was my witness, monitored everything throughout the day, so I didn’t have to worry. Really enjoy every moment, because it goes by so fast.”
2. Have Your Day Thoroughly Documented
“Make sure someone captures extra videos or photos. Of course, you have a photographer and/or videographer, but videos made with a smartphone are wonderful to watch later and show moments you might quickly forget. You’ve invested a lot of energy, money, and time into your wedding; there’s nothing better than being able to relive the day through photos and videos.”
3. Make the Planning a Pleasant Memory Too
“Planning the wedding involves a lot. This sometimes caused some stress and a few discussions for us. Everything turned out well in the end and was worth it. Try to enjoy your preparations as well, and make the planning itself a beautiful memory. The most important thing is that you are getting married and happy. It’s like visiting Ikea: assembling a cabinet together can be frustrating at times, but once the cabinet is up, you are both proud of the result, and you can enjoy it for the rest of your life.”
