1. The point of contact
If you don't have awedding planner, it's a good idea to appoint someone to liaise with your various suppliers. You'll no doubt be busy enjoying every moment of your wedding and you may not always have your phone to hand. However, someone needs to be available to answer any questions. Give this task to your most organised bridesmaid, and give her number via your script to all your wedding suppliers.
2. The Zen master
It's perfectly normal to feel nervous at different times during your wedding day: when you're getting ready, just before the ceremony, when you're about to give a speech, etc. At such times, you can ask one of your best friends to put you at ease. To do this, choose a bridesmaid who is the calmest, or the one who knows you best. After all, she knows best how to reassure and support you.
3. The timekeeper
If there's noorganiser or coordinator at your wedding, it can be very useful to have one of your bridesmaids keep an eye on the time and make sure the script is finished. She'll make sure everyone's hair and make-up is done on time, tell you when it's best to put on yourbridal gown, make sure you're everywhere on time, and so on. Give your most punctual friend your script and discuss it with her beforehand. She can then, for example, set alarm clocks on her mobile phone and tell you when you need to be somewhere.
4. The music maestro
Your DJ will of course provide you with the best music possible during your wedding. But who will take care of the music in the morning when you're getting ready? Your hair and make-up can take a while - and what fun is there getting ready for the big day with your friends, singing your favourite songs in the background? To get you in the mood, you and your bridesmaids can prepare a list of fun songs in advance. One of them will then make sure that this list is actually played. 5. Storage
The place where you and your bridesmaids get ready can be a bit of a mess. This isn't very practical if you want a tidy background for your getting ready photos. Your professional photographer will also make sure there's nothing distracting in the photo. However, it doesn't hurt to tidy up a bit in the meantime and keep the room organised. Your hairdresser and make-up artist will also need plenty of space to put their things away. Appoint your neatest friend to do this: she'll make sure there's not too much clutter.
Also ask this person to keep an emergency kit containing everything you might need on hand throughout the day. You can put this kit together yourself in advance. Think safety pins, hairpins, coins, dental floss, lipstick, deodorant, painkillers, blister dressings, etc.
6. The perfectionist
This bridesmaid has an eye for detail; she makes sure every little fold in your dress or outfit is in place. Think of the moment you walk down the aisle or towards the ceremony, or when you arrive. Then it's nice to have someone quickly adjust your dress before the ceremony starts. During your photo shoot, it's also handy to have someone by your side for the finishing touches, so you look your best in every photo!
7. The photo supervisor
The photo supervisor is the expert in organising group photos. Once it's time for the photo shoot with your family and friends, his or her job is to get the right people together and in front of your photographer's lens. To do this, choose the bridesmaid who knows your guests best, so she doesn't have to look far!
8. The snack supplier
Your wedding day is often a long day: you may be busy getting ready from early in the morning and experiencing everything very intensely. As a result, you run the risk of forgetting to eat enough and not having your first full meal until the evening. So agree with your caterer that they can also provide (breakfast), or order breakfast or snacks in advance and have them delivered. One of your bridesmaids can remind you to have a bite to eat from time to time, so that you feel strong and energetic throughout the day.
9. The water police
They form a perfect duo with the ‘snack supplier’. She's in charge of bringing you a glass of water regularly, because you might not be thinking about it enough because of the hustle and bustle of the day. This bridesmaid will also ensure that you alternate betweenalcohol and water from time to time. Is there someone in your group of friends who keeps a close eye on this? Then ask her, when she has a glass of water herself, to bring you one too. Between you, the water police and the snack supplier will make sure you eat and hydrate enough to last all day and all night!
10. The bouquet keeper
As soon as the bride arrives at the altar or ceremony, this maid of honour takes the bridal bouquet from her. As a bride, you naturally want to have your hands free to hold your future husband! During the ceremony, she will lovingly look after the flowers. After the vows, when the bride and groom leave together, she will safely return the bouquet to you. At other times, during the party for example, the bouquet keeper will make sure that the flowers are nearby, in a vase filled with water. In most cases, your professional florist will provide you with a vase for your bouquet - if not, you can request one from your reception hall.
Tip: don't forget to remove your flowers from the vase containing water half an hour before the ceremony, otherwise drops of water could fall from the bouquet onto your dress.
11. The content creator
If you don't have a videographer or professional content creator, it's a good idea to ask a few bridesmaids to be your ‘content creator’. They will immortalise your memories in a spontaneous and often amusing way, taking fun videos and photos with their and/or your smartphone, for example during the preparations and the ceremony. In doing so, they alternate a little, so that they are also on top of things. Of course, your professional photographer also captures these moments; this way, however, you have some extra (video) footage that you can already watch straight away and that you or your content creator can already publish on social networks - a fun TikTok video, for example! Your bridesmaids don't need to do this all the time; as soon as you have footage, that's good enough!
