Makeup artist Peggy Timmermans went to check out the catwalks of various fashion houses, from Oscar de la Renta to Marchesa. She jotted down the most striking trends for us.
Hair
The chignon is back! But this time it's a more sophisticated version or a chignon that's a little harder to style. We are also seeing the most beautiful hair accessories, and butterfly hair clips, among other things, are making a comeback. These are placed in a messy bun and thus replace the veil.
In addition, we are getting a flashback to the seventies with small curls and gold-plated hairpieces. Ideal for those who are getting married on the beach. This fits perfectly with this theme.
Ribbons are no longer just for little girls. At Oscar de la Renta, we saw beautiful updos decorated with ivory-colored ribbons. The models for Reem Acra wore no jewelry but had beautiful long braids decorated with stars and pearls.
Makeup
Glitter is back and never went away. We saw a shiny eye look on the ready-to-wear catwalk, but a bride also looks beautiful with shiny eyeshadow. Bobbi Brown did the makeup for Angel Sanchez, consisting of a metallic wet-look eyeshadow combined with shiny pink lip gloss.
We also see a lot of soft pink on the lips. Simone Rocha, Alexander McQueen, and Ines Di Santo combine this with lovely rosy cheeks. The ‘rosy glow’ is still in. Highlighters with pink undertones, soft pink blushes, and pink ombré lips are perfect for the season.
