Combining multiple catering packages for your wedding? Here’s how to do it (en)

Are you dreaming of a spontaneous wedding celebration, where mingling, conversation and convivial meals take centre stage? Combining several catering styles can be a great idea. Eline Vekeman of Fruy Catering explains how sharing concepts, roaming dinners, OFYR catering and table buffets each create a different atmosphere, and how to combine certain options thoughtfully.

A culinary experience tailored to your celebration

Fruy Catering offers a range of versatile catering options for weddings. Eline: “We organise celebrations for both small groups and very large gatherings. The quality always remains the same. We work with fresh ingredients so that every guest enjoys an equally memorable experience. Seasonal produce also plays an important role: we always choose the right ingredients in the right place.”

How catering influences the atmosphere of a wedding

The catering style you choose has a significant influence on the atmosphere of your wedding and the way your guests interact. Eline: “Some couples wonder whether a sharing style might feel awkward when several groups of friends are seated at the same table. In reality, the opposite happens. People naturally start chatting when they share a meal.”

A walking dinner also brings energy to your wedding quickly. “With this style, the celebration often gets going sooner. Guests are standing, moving around and mingling more easily.” A traditional seated dinner is often more relaxed. “Once guests are comfortably seated at the table, they tend to stay there longer.”

According to Eline, many couples are looking for a happy medium these days. “Lately, we’ve noticed that weddings are becoming more dynamic, with fewer classic three-course menus. Many couples combine different styles to give their celebration a more natural flow,” she explains.

Create a menu that suits your preferences

A wedding meal doesn’t have to follow a fixed format. “You can combine different styles in almost endless ways,” explains Eline. “During the reception, for example, dishes can be prepared on the OFYR. Then you could serve two cold starters as part of a walking dinner. Later, meat could be prepared on the OFYR again, served as a buffet or as part of a sharing concept. This gives every wedding its own rhythm. We always take a personalised approach and create a bespoke proposal, so you can put together the format that suits you.”

If you’re unsure which catering style is right for you, the team will be happy to offer advice. Eline explains: “If you’re not quite sure what you want yet, we’ll ask you a few simple questions. For example: when you have guests over at home, do you like to take your time over drinks, or would you rather sit down for a long meal? Based on your answers, we’ll work together to plan how your celebration will unfold. Some couples enjoy a long reception. For other families, sharing a moment around the table is very important. Together, we’ll find the right option for you and your guests.”
