“A boat is more than an event location,” says Iris. “It is an intriguing venue with a long history and a rich story. Our boat was built in 1948 and served as a cargo ship for a long time. In 2000, the boat docked at Kuiperskaai in Ghent and in 2024 it was transformed into a beautiful venue full of charm, authenticity, and creativity.”

Your Intimate Experience
“Getting married on a boat immediately puts a fun twist on the classic wedding concept. Our spaces are arranged to make optimal use of the dynamic and intimate character,” says Iris.
Iris: “We organize wedding parties for up to about 120 guests and invite everyone onto the deck for your reception. The ceremony can also be perfectly held here. Afterward, we welcome you in the hold for a walking dinner, and you can dance the night away during an unforgettable dance party.”
Through All Seasons
Is a wedding party on a boat only possible in the summer? “We are prepared for all weather conditions,” smiles Iris. “Due to the intimate character of the boat and the warm, classy interior, autumn and winter offer many advantages to fully enjoy a fairytale wedding. It adds that little bit more magic to your special day when it gets dark earlier and you are surrounded on the ship by the twinkling lights of the city.”
Everything Your Heart Desires
“In addition to an extremely romantic setting, L’Esceau is equipped with all facilities. We have air conditioning and heating, beautiful glass railings at the edges of the boat, and a luxuriously furnished restroom. Moreover, we have heavily invested in acoustics so that you and your guests can dance to your favorite songs until the late hours,” continues Iris.
“We also provide fun extras… Nothing as romantic as arriving at L’Esceau by boat. Or exploring the beautiful Ghent with your witnesses.”
About L’Esceau

Located on the Scheldt in the heart of Ghent, you find yourself in an oasis of calm on this boat and enjoy the breathtaking view of the city library. You are also at the right place for a special culinary experience. Through collaboration with four permanent partners, you are assured of an extremely warm, unique experience that you will remember for years to come. Starting in May, ‘Club L’Esceau’ is organized here on the first Sunday of every month (shopping Sunday in Ghent). From 11:30 AM, you can enjoy the sun on the deck and order snacks and drinks à la carte, while a DJ provides happy vibes.
