Discovering unknown destinations

In 2023, there was once again plenty of travelling. Popular destinations such as the Amalfi Coast, the Greek islands and Bali saw a sharp increase in tourist numbers compared to previous years. In 2024, couples are more likely to choose a lesser-known destination for their honeymoon, to experience a little more privacy. Think Albania, Montenegro or the lesser-known islands of Greece. Joining these lesser-known destinations are also special, unseen experiences. Think a ride on the Orient Express, a balloon ride over Cappadocia or a boat trip in Antarctica. In 2024, it may all be a bit more special!

Minimoons

In 2024 newlyweds will postpone their honeymoon a little more often and opt for a short trip just after their wedding: a minimoon! By spending a few days in a warm destination or going on a short city trip or wellness weekend, newlyweds will soon enjoy their quality time together and take more time to plan their honeymoon.

To the sun!

In our 2024 honeymoon survey, we see a shift in how important the sun is for honeymoon couples. In 2023, it was already quite important, and in 2024 there is even an overwhelming majority (89%) saying that there should be sun security on their honeymoon. The wet summer of 2023 may be in between for something here.... The summer months are also once again popular. June to September are most often chosen to go on honeymoon.

Completely relaxed

For many couples, the honeymoon is a trip to completely recover from the run-up to the wedding party. While couples in 2023 more often chose a more sporty holiday, the House of Weddings honeymoon survey for 2024 shows another return to a completely relaxing trip, preferably with a cocktail in hand!

Intercontinental

Europe gained popularity with honeymooners in recent years, but in 2024, couples in love are heading back to faraway places. Road trips across America, visiting wonders of the world in Peru and unwinding on a beach in the Seychelles... The honeymoon is once again seen as the moment to set off for a faraway dream destination.
