We will tell you which honeymoon destination is at its best seasonally, and which country was voted favourite ‘all-year round’ travel destination!
On honeymoon in spring?
Are you looking for a sunny destination for your honeymoon? Most regions in South Africa and Thailand, in the Maldives and the Seychelles are at their best during the beginning of our spring. Plus point: during this season, it is not yet scorching hot or touristy crowded here. In honeymooner Bali, you will enjoy the best climate there during the month of May. Prefer to stay a little closer? During spring, the regions of southern Italy and Greece are also at least as beautiful as in summer!
On honeymoon in summer?
During our summer, you are guaranteed enough sunshine in Europe to book your travel destination closer to home. Southern Spain, Italy and France remain popular, even with newlyweds. For true sunseekers, Mauritius is a top destination and culture lovers can indulge in Malaysia. Or go on a road trip in the US - Route 66 anyone? In September, you can also enjoy an Indian summer in Africa or South-East Asia.
On honeymoon in autumn?
While we quietly pull out our thick coats here by then, you can go elsewhere to enjoy a ray of sunshine during our autumn. In Sicily, for example, it is often still warmer than 20 degrees in autumn. Or follow the warm currents of the Indian Ocean, and visit Kilimanjaro in Tanzania or koalas in Australia. Looking for pearly white beaches? The Dominican Republic or the Bahamas also remain very popular honeymoons during this period.
Or how about winter?
In December, it's plenty of summer on the other side of the world. Go whale watching and ostrich riding together in South Africa, or go on safari in beautiful Namibia. Oman or Dubai are also worth visiting at this time - less oppressively hot. Would you rather go for the real winter feeling, including snow, dog sledding and hot chocolate? Then Lapland, Sweden and Norway might be for you. Those countries are really on the rise as possible top honeymoon destinations!
Year-round: Mexico!
According to House of Weddings‘ National Wedding Survey, Mexico was voted by participating couples as the favourite travel destination for their honeymoon. This is because in Mexico you can enjoy glorious sunshine all year round: temperatures fluctuate between 20°C and 30°C throughout the year. The high season in Mexico falls from November to April, as there is hardly any rainfall then. This does not mean that there is no nice weather from April to October. There is more chance of rain, though, but there are still many more sunny, pleasantly warm days. In Mexico, you will also find beautiful hotels to stay romantically during your honeymoon.
