Your names & date
The most obvious choice is to use your names or nicknames. #MrandMrsPeeters, #SophieandSander, or a combination of both names, such as #brangelina and #kimye. Play around with the different options and you're sure to come up with something fun! Or add your wedding date to ensure that no one else will ever use your hashtag: #SophieandSander07072017. Be careful with special characters such as “&”: these are often not recognized and will cut your hashtag off halfway through.
Do you find your names combined with the date a little too dry? Let your creativity run wild and come up with catchy alliterations or rhymes that are sure to stick with your guests.
Spelling mistakes
It's best to avoid hashtags that are prone to spelling mistakes. For example, two identical letters in succession are often read as a single letter. Fewer mistakes will be made with #SanderenSophie than with #SophieenSander.
Start each word with a capital letter
The use of upper or lower case letters does not affect how your hashtag works. #SanderenSophie will yield the same search results as #sanderensophie. However, starting each new word with a capital letter can increase the readability of your hashtag.
Final check
Before you put the hashtag on your save-the-dates, invitations, or napkins, we recommend entering it on Facebook and Instagram first. “No search results”? Perfect! Your wedding hashtag is completely unique.
