Getting started with your guest list
As a bride and groom, your names are so-wie-so central to the wedding invitation. But your wedding party is only complete with the right people by your side. So think carefully about who you would like to invite to your wedding as well as the exact number. This is why you draw up a guest list. In the first place, the invitees are of course your close family and friends, but also think of acquaintances, friends from your studies, former colleagues, former neighbours and your (in-law's) parents' guests.
Wedding invitation according to etiquette
If you, the bride and groom, finance the wedding party yourself, you are consequently hostess and host and invite guests in your own name. Are (grand)parents covering the costs of the big day? If so, wedding et iquette dictates that their names and addresses be included on the wedding invitations. Send out your invitation about six to eight weeks before your wedding day.
The course of the day
In the wedding invitation, you give an overview of the course of your big day. You mention when the wedding celebration will take place in the town hall and/or the church and then you list exactly what you have in mind for your big day: the ceremony, a reception, a dinner, a brunch, an evening party, ... Let the style of your wedding party come to the fore by calling on a graphic designer to create a specific and personalised wedding invitation for you.
Different wedding venues
When you think of the location of your wedding party, you might quickly think of the ballroom, but a wedding day usually takes place in several places. Think, for example, of the wedding celebration at the town hall or at the church. You might consider a reception or a ceremony at a unique location such as on the beach. You should mention these different places in your wedding invitation. Do you want to get married abroad? Then inform your guests in good time so that they can arrange transport and accommodation.
Different guests, different hours
Work out for yourself exactly who you want to invite to what part of the day and have customised wedding cards printed. That way your guests will know exactly where and when they are welcome. Include an RSVP (Répondez, s'il vous plaît) with your wedding invitation. Here you set a deadline for guests to let you know if they will be attending or not.
Help your guests on their way
Dress code
The common practice is to add a dress code to your wedding invitation. hite tie, black tie or casual, the possibilities are endless. et a clear dress code you avoid someone turning up in jeans among gentlemen who are all wearing suits. e thus takes outfit stress away from your guests for which they will surely thank you!
Route description
To ensure your guests find the correct address of your venue, you can add directions to your wedding cards. d They certainly come in handy in case of roadworks, detours or when the party room is difficult to reach due to its rustic setting.
Gift idea
Your guests don't want to arrive at your wedding empty-handed. So feel free to include a gift tip on your wedding invitation. Your guests are sure to bring the desired gift. Your guests are happy, you are happy, win-win!
