1. Less is more
'Booze is the devil' goes the saying. But actually, 'spirits are the devil' is more accurate. Whisky, gin, vodka or rum are real killers. Better not serve strong drinks at the party. Wine or beer and a range of soft drinks are usually sufficient.
2. Mocktails
You see them popping up more and more at parties: mocktails. They are original, non-alcoholic and also delicious drinks. Which almost makes you forget there is no alcohol in them at all. A completely alcohol-free party will not be to everyone's taste, but such a mocktail stall does catch the eye. Maybe you just don't reveal that this cocktail is alcohol-free?
3. Out together, home together
Glass up? Get driven! Put in a shuttle service. And we're not talking about a dusty school bus. With plenty of different types of cars, they can take you and your brand-new spouse, as well as the (honoured) guests back home. You can usually hire the cars with or without a driver. Provided there is a BOB of course.
4. Sleepover
Is the wedding in or near a hotel? Then perhaps your guests can book a room there. That way, even with a glass on, they can get 'home' safely and without penalties. These days, adventurous couples let their guests set up a tent in the garden. We already recommend planning the set-up before the festivities.
5. Hashtag 'always hungry'
Even if your guests have eaten an entire dinner a few hours before, a midnight snack is always popular. After all, all that dancing whets the appetite. A snack in the early hours, such as a cone of chips, a mini croque or other snacks are usually greatly appreciated. Eating is also the best way to get less drunk, as eating slows down the absorption of alcohol in the body.
TIP
Of course, what your guests drink remains their responsibility. However, you can give them a slight hint. For example, place a fun sign at the exit that will be thought-provoking!
