1. Atmosphere under the shining sun
When you think of barbecue, you think of a bright summer day and warm sunshine. An outdoor setting is already plan A! Provide lovely outdoor furniture and, if necessary, add picnic blankets and big soft cushions. Put your guests in the summer mood by offering personalised sunglasses with your wedding logo, or those big wicker hats that are in again. Your guests will take these goodies home afterwards, as a thank-you gift and with a nice memory of your barbecue wedding.
PS: as for Plan B: make sure you have a large enough indoor space in case of rain, or rent a party tent!
2. Food with a fresh touch
A barbecue wedding has something for everyone: from a traditional burger to grilled fish and roasted sweet potatoes. There is nothing like the smell of delicious barbecue spices while enjoying the sunshine and delicious food. The savoury dishes from the grill also combine beautifully with fresh snacks, such as vegetable wraps or avocado with smoked salmon.
3. Cooling drinks with a twist
At a barbecue wedding, you can get really creative with your drinks. Go for a selection of fruity cocktails like strawberry-lemon mojitos or watermelon quila, for example. Complement with some homemade lemonades with a summer twist, such as lemon and lavender lemonade.
Tip: offer these tasty drinks from an atmospheric mobile bar! A mobile bar at a barbecue wedding is a great way to provide your guests with these refreshing drinks as well as adding to the party atmosphere.
4. Colourful flowers all over
Decorate your party room, party tent or garden with all kinds of summer plants and flowers to add some extra summer scent, colour and atmosphere. Style your tables with colourful flowers and run plants up the support posts of your marquee or on the walls of your wedding venue. For a fairy-tale midsummer atmosphere at night, add lights or lanterns among your plants. In turn, edible flowers are very pretty in ice cubes. Your caterer knows how to do it!
5. Surprise with outdoor activities
Not only children like to play outside... Provide fun activities for adults too, such as horseshoe pitching, kubb and darts. Playing simple games together makes it easy for guests to connect. And how about a small campfire in the evening? Perfect for roasting marshmallows! That way, you can end your barbecue wedding fun and, most importantly, delicious.
