Yes, they were already trendy in 2016, but food trucks and mobile bars will remain an original food concept in the new year. Let your guests enjoy a haute dog, gourmet burger, croque, or other bite-sized treats. Logistically speaking, food trucks don't require much effort. You don't need to rent a separate kitchen or equipment; everything is already in the truck. And that saves you money, of course. Food trucks are here to stay, although traditional dining formulas may well regain popularity...
2. Delicious and honest
In 2017, wedding guests expect delicious and honest dishes. It has to be tasty, but above all, it has to be high-quality and pure. We like recognizable ingredients on our plates, and quality is paramount. Belgians have a strong gastronomic reflex, especially since the arrival of numerous culinary TV programs. The bar is set high, even when it comes to wedding catering.
3. Experience
Experience remains a buzzword in 2017. The decoration of the hall, the table and buffet settings, watching the food being prepared and presented... It's not just the taste of the food that's important, it also has to look good.
4. Healthy
In 2017, people are more conscious about their diet. Just think of the gluten-free, carbohydrate-free, lactose-free or low-sugar trends. We are looking for a lifestyle that suits us. It is not surprising that the demand for healthy wedding food is also increasing; couples want a balanced, healthy meal on their big day. Without too many calories and away from the classic cream and butter sauces. There is also an increasing demand for vegetarian dishes, organic products, and local and seasonal ingredients.
5. Non-alcoholic
Alcohol flows freely at a wedding party. It is, after all, a festive day. But generations Y and Z are increasingly opting for non-alcoholic options. In 2017, don't be surprised if you spot a water bar, a cold-pressed juice stand, or a mocktail cart!
